Transportation Librarian, Mar. 2009 to Present
Responsible as a solo librarian for original and copy cataloging, management of the MoDOT library, and broad-based collection development. Provided detailed answers to complex reference questions regarding transportation. Created relevant pathfinders, library advertisements, and submitted MoDOT publications to national Transportation Research Board databases. Processed and managed interlibrary loan requests. Directed competitive intelligence and knowledge management activities to support agency performance management inativitves. Also, represented MoDOT within the Transportation Knowledge Networks and Transportation Connectivity Pooled Fund.

Worked as a metadata specialist for the Picture of the Year International photojournalism contest to map and import archival information into qualified Dublin Core format. Also aided with the implementation of Omeka content management system and developed an on-line archive using PHP, MySQL, and CSS. Developed website layout and coordinated efforts between ISLT and Journalism schools.

Assisted in cataloging library materials: primarily digital, non-print, government, and archival items using both Connexion and Millennium software. Completed both original and copy cataloging with aid of contemporary resources, aided in management of library periodicals, classified items and collections, and developed the general collection. Supervised two undergraduate student assistants.

Archives Digitization Assistant, Jan. to Dec. 2007
Scanned over 1,000 documents, articles, and photographs for the Richard Gephardt Papers while entering compliant Dublin Core metadata. Assisted in design and construction of project website and organized 80+ linear feet of photographic materials. Created EAD encoded finding aids with the Archon content management system and used Connexion software and contemporary cataloging rules to create unique MARC records. Worked with OCLC’s ContentDM software to digitize text materials. Conducted occasional reference service at Library and Research Center.
